FDC Assault Advisories | March 16 – April 2, 2018

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.

DE FUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. – On April 3, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Walton Correctional Institution.

Inmate Kelvin Brown (A51451) assaulted the officer at approximately 1:15 p.m. Inmate Brown struck the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Brown will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


MILTON, Fla. – On April 3, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.

Inmate Ulysses Crouse (K81748) assaulted the officer at approximately 10:27 a.m. Inmate Crouse cut the officer with a makeshift weapon. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Crouse will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


RAIFORD, Fla. – On April 4, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Florida State Prison.

Inmate Joseph Ferguson (473938) assaulted the officer at approximately 8:43 a.m. Inmate Ferguson bit the officer’s arm. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Ferguson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


OCALA, Fla. – On April 4, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Lowell Annex.

Inmate Terra Olson (U32408) assaulted the officer at approximately 12:00 p.m. Inmate Olson bit the officer’s hand. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Olson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


BRISTOL, Fla. – On April 4, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Liberty Correctional Institution.

Inmate Gregory Holmes (L31630) assaulted the officers at approximately 1:20 p.m. Inmate Holmes struck the officer in the head. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Inmate Holmes will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


INDIANTOWN, Fla. – On April 5, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Martin Correctional Institution.

Inmate Jazz Dewindt (130699) assaulted the officer at approximately 5:21 a.m. Inmate Dewindt struck the officer in the face several times. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Inmate Dewindt will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


LAKE CITY, Fla. – On April 5, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Columbia Correctional Institution.

Inmate Lamount Roundtree (U01448) assaulted the officer at approximately 7:45 a.m. Inmate Roundtree struck the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Roundtree will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


MONTICELLO, Fla. – On April 5, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Jefferson Correctional Institution.

Inmate Kentrall Hankerson (M69242) assaulted the officer at approximately 3:50 p.m. Inmate Hankerson struck the officer in the head. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Inmate Hankerson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


MILTON, Fla. – On April 5, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.

Inmate Angel Santana (X69100) assaulted the officer at approximately 5:58 p.m. Inmate Santana threw a food tray into the officer’s chest. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Santana will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


MILTON, Fla. – On April 6, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.

Inmate Troy Hall (082137) assaulted the officer at approximately 4:32 p.m. Inmate Hall scratched the officer’s arm. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Hall will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


MALONE, Fla. – On April 6, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Jackson Correctional Institution.

Inmate Ladell Mitchell (C03890) assaulted the officer at approximately 10:50 p.m. Inmate Mitchell head-butted the officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Inmate Mitchell will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


ORLANDO, Fla. – On April 7, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Central Florida Reception Center.

Inmate Carnell Butler (R86021) assaulted the officer at approximately 7:30 p.m. Inmate Butler struck the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Butler will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


LAKE CITY, Fla. – Inmate James Baird (T56153) assaulted the officer at approximately 3:25 p.m. Inmate Baird stabbed the officer’s hand with a makeshift weapon. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.
