FDC Celebrates TAILS Dog Program Graduation at Baker Correctional Institution

If you would like to attend, please contact the Florida Department of Corrections’ Office of Communications as soon as possible at (850) 488-0420. Attendees will need to complete and submit a media background access form. No video or photos may be taken without prior consent and approval of Department staff at the event.

WHAT: Media are invited to the Teaching Animals and Inmates Life Skills (TAILS) graduation ceremony. The TAILS program brings together rescue dogs from the nonprofit Pit Sisters with inmates from Baker Correctional Institution Work Camp for obedience training. Graduating dogs are crate trained, housebroken, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and micro-chipped.

WHY: Through programs like TAILS, the Department of Corrections focuses on teaching inmates valuable job skills that will lead them to productive employment and law-abiding lives upon release.
