FDC Assault Advisories | February 28 - March 6, 2017

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.

LAKE CITY, Fla. – On February 28, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Columbia Correctional Institution.

Inmate Daryl Hall (L45263) assaulted the officer at approximately 5:45 p.m. EST. Inmate Hall charged at the officer while carrying a makeshift weapon. In the process of trying to remove the weapon from the inmate’s hand, the officer was stabbed in the finger. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted minor injuries. Inmate Hall will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


CLERMONT, Fla. – On February 28, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Lake Correctional Institution.

Inmate David McIntyre (053685) assaulted the officer at approximately 8:30 p.m. EST. Inmate McIntyre kicked the officer in the stomach. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted an injured hand. Inmate McIntyre will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


CHIPLEY, Fla. – On February 28, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Northwest Florida Reception Center Annex.

Inmate Kenyatta Scott (T72520) assaulted the officer at approximately 11:15 p.m. CST. Inmate Scott was causing a disturbance when he bit the officer in the wrist. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted minor injuries. Inmate Scott will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


MADISON, Fla. – On March 2, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Madison Correctional Institution.

Inmate Bruce Gunter (L13297) assaulted the officer at approximately 8:30p.m. EST. Inmate Gunter tackled the officer to the ground. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted minor injuries. Inmate Gunter will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


WEWAHITCHKA, Fla. – On March 2, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Gulf Correctional Institution.

Inmate Rudolph Stripling (152181) assaulted the officer at approximately 8:43 p.m. EST. Inmate Stripling elbowed the officer in the upper torso. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Stripling will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


OCALA, Fla. – On March 4, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Marion Correctional Institution.

Inmate Orlando Mercado (Y30405) assaulted the officer at approximately 8:03 a.m. EST. The officer was conducting a search when the inmate became aggressive and began hitting the officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted minor injuries. Inmate Mercado will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


LIVE OAK, Fla. – On March 6, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Suwannee Correctional Institution.

Inmate Joseph Daniel (E47209) assaulted the officer at approximately 8:34 a.m. EST. Inmate Daniel attempted to flee and kicked the officer in the abdomen. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted minor injuries. Inmate Daniel will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
