FDC Celebrates Graduation of Hardee Hero Hounds at Hardee CI

If you would like to attend, please contact the Florida Department of Corrections’ Office of Communications as soon as possible at (850) 488-0420. Attendees will need to complete and submit a media background access form. No video or photos may be taken without prior consent and approval of Department staff at the event.

WHAT: Media are invited to the Hardee Hero Hounds graduation ceremony. The Hardee Hero Hounds program brings together retired racing greyhounds from the Greyhound Advancement Center with inmates from Hardee Correctional Institution for an 8-10 week training regimen. Graduating dogs are crate trained, housebroken, spayed/neutered and up-to-date on shots.

WHY: Through programs like Hardee Hero Hounds, the Department of Corrections is focusing on teaching inmates valuable job skills that will lead them to productive jobs and law-abiding lives upon release.

DIRECTIONS: Interstate-75 to Exit 229, Moccasin Wallow Road East and turn south onto Highway 301 turn left (east) onto S.R. 62 for 25.7 miles. The facility is on the right.
