FDC Assault Advisories | February 7 - 13, 2017

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.

LIVE OAK, Fla. – On February 7, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Suwannee Correctional Institution.

Inmate James Bradley (427878) assaulted the officer at approximately 9:40 a.m. EDT. Inmate Bradley struck the officer in the arm with a homemade weapon. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted minor injuries. Inmate Bradley will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


RAIFORD, Fla. – On February 7, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Florida State Prison.

Inmate Eugene Brantley (C06629) assaulted the officer at approximately 2:48 p.m. EDT. Inmate Brantley struck the officer with his fist in the upper torso. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Inmate Brantley will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


ORLANDO, Fla. – On February 8, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Central Florida Reception Center.

Inmate Raymond Magnes (979689) assaulted the officer at approximately 11:23 a.m. EDT. Inmate Magnes was speaking with staff when he became combative and stabbed the officer in the hand with his glasses. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted a swollen knee and a cut on the finger. Inmate Magnes will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


MIAMI, Fla. – On February 9, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Everglades Correctional Institution.

Inmate Darryl Hollis (J49719) assaulted the officer at approximately 7:02 a.m. EDT. Inmate Hollis became combative and struck the officer in the eye with his fist. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted minor injuries. Inmate Hollis will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


RAIFORD, Fla. – On February 13, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Union Correctional Institution.

Inmate Dwayne Hankins (V07486) assaulted the officer at approximately 10:00 a.m. EDT. Inmate Hankins was in escort when he turned and head-butted the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted minor injuries to the nose. Inmate Hankins will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.


OCALA, Fla. – On February 13, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Lowell Correctional Institution.

Inmate Joy Cooper (E32796) assaulted the officer at approximately 9:14 p.m. EDT. Inmate Cooper twisted the officer’s wrist and scratched the officer’s arm multiple times. The inmate became compliant without further incident.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Cooper will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
