Florida Department of Corrections Hosts Rapid Response Team Competition
MARIANNA, Fla. – The Florida Department of Corrections held a Rapid Response Team (RRT) competition last Friday, October 21, at the Jackson County Agriculture Center. The event consisted of RRTs representing Region 1 correctional institutions challenging each other in an obstacle course, riot control formations, shooting, a recreation field disturbance scenario, and a class on shield formations. RRTs are 14 person teams comprised of correctional officers who are trained to deal with emergencies such as riots, natural disasters and man-made disasters. This event provides key training and competition for those men and women who keep our communities safe on a daily basis. It also allows the Institutional, Regional and Central Office leadership teams to evaluate the proficiency and the quality of training that is being conducted by the RRTs.
