Inmate Attacks Correctional Officer at Calhoun Correctional Institution

BLOUNTSTOWN, Fla. – An inmate assaulted a correctional officer Saturday evening at Calhoun Correctional Institution.

Inmate Trent Washington (T62989) attacked the officer at approximately 11:34 p.m. After refusing to submit to restraints for an escort, inmate Washington struck an officer in the head. Several staff members then responded appropriately and inmate Washington became compliant.

The injured staff member was examined by medical staff who noted a laceration to an ear, redness to an ankle and redness to a forearm.

Inmate Washington will receive a disciplinary report for this assault. The Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General will investigate this incident.

An Assault Advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
