Inmate Assaults Staff Member at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution Annex
MILTON, Fla. — An inmate assaulted a staff member Wednesday afternoon while incarcerated at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution Annex.
Inmate Marvin Medders (134496) attacked a correctional officer at approximately 2:20 p.m. Inmate Medders grabbed the officer and dug his finger nails into the officer’s hand, breaking the skin. Following the initial attack, the officer was able to successfully bring inmate Medders into compliance.
The injured staff member was examined by medical staff who noted scratches on the back of a hand.
Inmate Medders will receive a disciplinary report for this assault. The Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General will investigate this incident.
An Assault Advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
