Inmate Attacks Correctional Officer at Union Correctional Institution

RAIFORD, Fla. – An inmate attacked a correctional officer Friday afternoon at Union Correctional Institution.

Inmate Alex Beasley (N26228) attacked a correctional officer at approximately 3:48 p.m. Inmate Beasley was under escort when he kicked one of the officers in the knee. Several other officers responded, bringing the situation into compliance and completing the escort.

The injured officer was examined by medical staff who noted redness and swelling in one knee.

Inmate Beasley will receive a disciplinary report for this assault. The Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General will investigate this incident..

An Assault Advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
