WHAT: | Media are invited to the graduation of the Developing Adoptable Dogs with Good Sociability (DAWGS) program. The DAWGS program brings together shelter dogs from the St. Joseph Bay Humane Society in Port St. Joe and inmates from Gulf Forestry Camp for obedience-training. Graduating dogs are crate trained, housebroken, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and micro chipped. |

WHY: | Through programs like DAWGS program, the Department of Corrections is focusing on teaching inmates valuable job skills that will lead them to productive jobs and law-abiding lives upon release. |

Please note: No video or photos may be taken without the prior consent and approval from Department staff at the event. No cell phones or cameras will be permitted inside the institution. |
DIRECTIONS: | Take I-10 to Exit 142 (SR-71 South) approximately 65 miles to County Road 387, Doc Whitfield Road. Turn left off Highway 71 onto CR-387 / Doc Whitfield Road. The institution is approximately four miles from Highway 71. |
