Punta Gorda, Fla. – Charlotte Correctional Institution will celebrate the life and public service of Fallen Correctional Officer Darla K. Lathrem.
|WHAT:||Correctional Officer Lathrem became the first female Correctional Officer in Florida to give her life in the line of duty during a June 11, 2003 failed escape attempt at Charlotte Correctional Institution. A joint Honor Guard from the Punta Gorda Police Department and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office will present the colors, while Officer Lathrem’s father will conduct the invocation and her brother-in-law will present a reflection on her life.|
