Visitation Cancelled at Mayo Correctional Institution – Annex this Weekend

In the interest of health and safety for our inmates, their families and other visitors, the Florida Department of Corrections today announced the cancellation of weekend visitation at Mayo Correctional Institution – Annex for Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15, 2015 due to an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness. The origin of this illness is unknown at this time. The Department’s medical staff, in collaboration with our contracted health care provider and the Florida Department of Health in Lafayette County, are working diligently to identify this illness and provide treatment to the affected individuals. Visitors are encouraged to check the Department’s website for future updates. Visitation will at Mayo Correctional Institution (Main Unit) and Mayo Work Camp will not be effected.

As Florida's largest state agency, the Department of Corrections employs more than 22,000 members statewide, incarcerates more than 100,000 inmates and supervises nearly 146,000 offenders in the community.
