Marianna, Fla. – Media is invited to the Florida Department of Corrections’ Rapid Response Team (RRT) Training taking place on Friday, October 3 at the Jackson County Agriculture in Bonifay. Opening ceremonies will begin at 5:45 a.m. CST and the event will conclude around 1:30 p.m. CST. There will be 15 state prisons participating from Region 1 which covers the area from Pensacola to Perry. The event will feature training exercises such as munitions, platoon and squad formations, riot/baton techniques and a physical fitness competition.
Rapid Response Teams are 14 person teams comprised of correctional officers specially trained in less lethal and lethal munitions, chemical munitions, crowd control, and riot suppression. This event provides key training and competition for those men and women who keep our communities safe on a daily basis. It allows the Institutional, Regional and Central Office leadership team to evaluate the proficiency and the quality of training that is being provided to the RRT’s.
