Reporters invited to the Christmas Children of Inmates visit at Okeechobee C.I. on 12/21/2011

What: The Service Network for Children of Inmates will be bringing children from all over Dade County to visit with their fathers. 
Where: Okeechobee Correctional Institution Visiting Park, 3420 N.E. 168th Street, Okeechobee, Florida 34972-4824
When: Wednesday, 12/21/2011 at 10:00 a.m.
Who: Inmates at Okeechobee C.I.  Okeechobee CI is an adult male facility located in Okeechobee County. It currently houses 1648 inmates ranging in custody from close to community.
Why: Since April 2007, the Department of Corrections has partnered with the Service Network for Children of Inmates to strengthen the bonds between inmates and their children. The Service Network for Children of Inmates is dedicated to understanding the circumstances and needs of families with an incarcerated parent. Through these joint efforts, we are able to assist in improving the quality of life for children of incarcerated parents, their families and communities.

Directions to Prison: Exit I-95 at SR-68 (northernmost exit in Ft. Pierce). Go west on SR-68 for approximately 25 miles to Highway 441. Turn left onto 441 and go approximately three (3) miles. Turn left at N.E. 168th Street. Follow N.E. 168th Street to the institution.
