The Bureau of Personnel is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the department's personnel management and the direct personnel administration for the Central Office. Duties include establishment of policies and procedures and dissemination of interpretations and direction for the following broad employment areas: position classification and pay structure, recruitment and selection, payroll and benefits, civil rights and affirmative action, labor and employee relations, and employee programs.

  • Develop, implement and monitor Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) functions and Department's Affirmative Action Plan

  • Serve as Department representative at trial and Step 3 Grievances
  • Workforce reduction

Payroll and Benefits:

  • Payroll processing

Management Services and Employee Programs:

  • Administration and statewide coordination of the Employee Programs:
    • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
    • Post Trauma Staff Support
    • Domestic Violence Prevention
    • Employee Recognition Programs
    • Drug Testing and Employee Physicals
  • Developing, ensuring accuracy and consistency, and maintaining the Bureau of Personnel's procedures, policies and forms
  • Monitoring, analyzing and responding to legislative issues related to human resource functions.
  • Coordinating implementation of human resource related legislation
  • Coordinating special projects related to Human Resource functions
