FDC Invites Media to Re-Entry Graduation

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. – The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is pleased to invite media to attend the Re-Entry Program Graduation at Walton CI in Defuniak Springs, FL.  

WHAT: The graduation ceremony is held in the chapel of the prison with graduate’s family in attendance. FDC Staff will present graduates with their certificates. During the ceremony, graduates also read a letter to the former selves and reflect on their experience in the program.

Media attendees can take photographs or film throughout the event and will have an opportunity to interview consenting graduates following the ceremony. The program’s coordinator, Sgt. Cody Ray will also be available for interview.

WHY: Walton CI’s Re-Entry Program prepares men for success once released from the institution. The program provides strategies that inmates can develop to assist in a smooth transition from prison to community. Inmates can participate in the following classes and work collaboratively using peer-to-peer strategies and techniques:
