Weekend Visitation Canceled at all FDC Institutions

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) announced the cancelation of weekend visitation for all correctional institutions statewide Thursday, October 6; Friday, October 7; Saturday, October 8; and Sunday October 9 in response to Hurricane Ian.

The cancelation is effective through October 9, and includes all major institutions, work camps, work release centers and annex facilities.

FDC staff throughout the state are working to help with recovery from the impact of Hurricane Ian. Staff resources are devoted to emergency response efforts.

FDC looks forward to resuming normal visitation as soon as possible. To receive visitation updates, please text “FDCVISIT” to 888-777.

Individuals are encouraged to visit the Department website or social media channels prior to contacting individual institutions. Frequent updates regarding visitation and office closures will be posted on Facebook, Twitter and www.dc.state.fl.us.
