FDC Celebrates Correctional Employees Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —Governor Ron DeSantis proclaimed the week of May 1-7, 2022, as Florida Correctional Employees Week. The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) takes this time to proudly celebrate our correctional employees who consistently uphold the agency’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Courage, Selfless Service and Compassion.

“Correctional Employees Week provides an opportunity to highlight the hard work and dedication our correctional professionals demonstrate daily,” said Secretary Ricky D. Dixon. “This week we celebrate their unwavering commitment to public safety and recognize their efforts to selflessly serve our communities with integrity, respect and courage.”

National Correctional Officers Week was first celebrated in 1984 following a proclamation signed by President Ronald Reagan. The designation was created to recognize the contributions of correctional officers across the nation. This annual initiative has evolved to include paying special honor to additional correctional personnel such as correctional probation officers, classification officers mental health, medical professionals and educators as well as support staff working behind the scenes. Within the FDC community, these professionals are essential in the pursuit of our mission.
