FDC Assault Advisories | May 17 – May 23, 2022

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty. All assaults are investigated, and disciplinary action is imposed in accordance with policy.

Florida State Prison: On May 17, Inmate Kimothy Simmmons (130112) assaulted an officer by biting them on the hand. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Holmes Correctional Institution: On May 17, Inmate Anthony Turro (524566) assaulted an employee by striking them and attempting to pull them to the floor. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined

Northwest Florida Reception Center: On May 17, Inmate Jason Tufts (Q50864) assaulted an employee. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Desoto Annex: On May 17 Inmate Darius Braggs (618510) assaulted an officer by striking them with his fist. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

South Florida Reception Center: On May 18, Inmate Derrick Edwards (894443) assaulted an officer by striking them in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Northwest Florida Reception Center: On May 18, Inmate Jonathan Miles (W70572) assaulted an officer by scratching them on the left side of the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Lowell Annex: On May 18, Inmate Jessica Marquardt (L92168) assaulted officers by striking them in the head with hands restraints and black box, biting their finger and pulling their hair. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officers and noted injuries.

Charlotte Correctional Institution: On May 19, Inmate Kacy Joseph (L70576) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Suwannee Correctional Institution: On May 19, Inmate Troy Johnson (W81080) assaulted officers by head-butting them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Charlotte Correctional Institution: On May 20, Inmate Johnny Burgess (U05762) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Suwannee Correctional Institution: On May 20, Inmate Freddie Williams (Y19428) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Columbia Correctional Institution: On May 21, Inmate Ronnie Tedder (Y56152) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Wakulla Correctional Institution: On May 21, Inmate Arthur Akins (167843) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Columbia Annex: On May 22, Inmate Troy Miller (075629) assaulted an officer by striking them multiple times with a closed fist. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Walton Correctional Institution: On May 22, Inmate Shaylon Huggertaylor (M82108) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Santa Rosa Annex: On May 22, Inmate David Arias (492667) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Santa Rosa Correction Institution: On May 22, Inmate Earl Nelson (J37776) assaulted an officer by elbowing them on the right side of the head. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Lowell Correctional Institution: On May 23, Inmate Chantay Wallace (M48655) assaulted officers by biting and striking them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officers and noted injuries.

Blackwater Correctional Facility: On May 23, Inmate Maurice Miller (B06776) assaulted an employee by grabbing their wrists and pushing them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the employee and noted injuries.
