UPDATE: Hurricane Michael
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Corrections is working around the clock to address needs of each institution that has been impacted by Hurricane Michael. Every panhandle institution has checked in with our FDC emergency operations center.
There have been no reported injuries and all inmates are secured. Staff and inmates have access to food, shelter and water.
Maintenance teams, additional fuel, food and water are being deployed to all impacted facilities.
Safety continues to be the primary mission as Wardens assess their facilities.
Communication has been severely impacted and phone lines are down at North Florida institutions. As additional information becomes available it will be posted on Facebook, Twitter and http://www.dc.state.fl.us.
