MILTON, Fla. – On January 1, four inmates assaulted correctional officers at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.
Secretary Julie Jones said, “These officers showed extraordinary courage in the face of a difficult and dangerous encounter. I am thankful for their service to our state, and for the continuous hard work of our institutional staff in helping to ensure the safety and security of our institutions.
Our Inspector General’s Office did an outstanding job supporting security and arresting the individuals involved.”
Inmates Johnslow Sauveur (B11923), Markus Vincent (B13075), Andre Williams (L66623) and Dukene Myrtil (M56396) assaulted the officers at approximately 11:00 a.m. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmates were subdued.
Medical staff examined the officers and noted injuries. The Department’s Office of Inspector General is conducting a criminal investigation into this assault, and the inmates have been charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
