FDC Celebrates Dog Program Graduation at Baker CI

If you would like to attend, please contact the Florida Department of Corrections’ Office of Communications as soon as possible at (850) 488-0420. Attendees will need to complete and submit a media background access form. No video or photos may be taken without prior consent and approval of Department staff at the event.

Media are invited to the Teaching Animals and Inmates Life Skills (TAILS) graduation ceremony. The TAILS program brings together rescue dogs from the non-profit organization Pit Sisters and inmates from Baker Correctional Institution Work Camp for obedience training. Graduating dogs earn the AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate and are crate trained, housebroken, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and micro-chipped.

Through programs like TAILS, the Department of Corrections is focusing on teaching inmates valuable job skills that will lead them to productive jobs and law-abiding lives upon release.

From I-10, take Exit 324 (US-90 West) approximately 4 miles. The Institution will be on the left.

From I-75, take Exit 427 (US-90) approximately 15 miles. The Institution will be on the right.
