FDC Assault Advisory | August 9, 2017
This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
JASPER, Fla. - On August 9, an inmate assaulted correctional officers at Hamilton Correctional Institution.
Inmate Joseph Miller (A51215) assaulted the officers at approximately 5:55 p.m. Inmate Miller became combative, stabbing three officers and striking another in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.
The officers received outside medical treatment and did not have any life-threatening or serious injuries. Inmate Miller will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
The Department's Office of the Inspector General is also investigating the incident.
